Moneymaking CVS trip!

I had a fantastic shopping trip to CVS today, mostly due to help from The Frugal Find with a little substitutions of my own!

Always remember to scan your Extra Care card when you enter the store.  Look for the red kiosk that looks like (and, in fact, is) a price scanner.  Scanning your card will almost always spit out a variety of coupons for you!  Today alone, I got a $4 off $20 (my sister got this as well yesterday so that really helped on this trip!), $3 off any Revlon cosmetic, $2 off ANY hand and body lotion, $1 off any Starbucks coffee (today only), and $1 off 2 Hershey's snack packs (today only; I wasn't sure what these were and didn't feel like looking this time)!!

Here's what my trip looked like:
(1) CVS Hand and Nail Lotion - $2.99
(1) Tylenol Precise Pain Relieving Cream (you could also get the heat patches) - $5.99 w/$2 ECBs
(1) Nivea for Men Body Wash - $4.99 w/$4.99 ECBs
(2) Lysol Disinfecting Wipes and (2) Aqua Mist Air Fresheners - 4/$10 w/$5 ECBs when you buy 4

Coupons used:
$4/$20 from CVS "magic coupon machine"
$2/1 Hand and body lotion from CVS "magic coupon machine"
$2/1 Tylenol Precise printable
$2/1 CVS Tylenol Precise printable (Look under healthcare)
$1/1 Nivea for Men Body Wash - 7/25 RP
$1/2 Lysol Disinfecting Wipes printable (sign up under special offers; there are lots of printables on here that you can use with this deal too)
BOGO Aqua Mist Air Fresheners - 8/8 SS
Total OOP: $9.47+tax AND...
$11.99 in ECBs, making this a $2.52 moneymaker trip!

My fantastic Rite Aid shopping trip!

Let me start by once again saying how much I *love* Rite Aid.  They have the most coupon friendly, very well described coupon policy out there.  I always carry a copy of it when going to the store too, just in case!

So here's how my trip looked today.  I did two transactions to maximize my savings and get the lowest out of pocket (OOP) amount.  Please check out this post from Hip2Save, including her shopping trip video.  She just wrote up all the basic info about Rite Aid and it's very extensive if you are new to shopping there or to couponing in general.  A wonderful website to frequent!

Transaction #1

(2) Clairol Root Touch Ups - $4.99 ea
(1) Fructis Shampoo - $2.99
(1) Fructis Conditioner - $2.99

(2) $1/2 Nabisco snack packs - Rite Aid Video Values coupon
(Please note, you need to have 2 e-mail accounts signed up to get two of any VV coupons as you can only print them one time; the register will beep that your coupon has been used if you try to print them twice.)

Total OOP:  $4.95+tax AND...
(2) $2 +Up rewards from the Root Touch Ups
$1 +Up reward from the Aussie

Transaction #2

(2) $1/1 Noxzema razors printable
Free Coke through Coke Rewards; get info here (You will not be able to get this before the end of the week because this is a mailed coupon so you will need to find something else to fill this slot so you can make it to $20)
AND...
(2) $2 +Up Rewards from first transaction
Total OOP:  $0+$1.05 tax AND...
$1 +Up Reward from Aussie purchase

To put it into perspective, if you went in with no coupons, you would pay more for one box of the Root Touch Up then I did for all the above items!!

Staples $1 deals! Ends today!

If you're obsessed with office supplies like me, you might want to RUN to Staples today and print THESE before you go!!  Everything I bought here was $1 each (I didn't need the highlighters so I skipped those!).  I was afraid they'd be out of a lot or I'd have to search high and low to find them, but nope!  Quickest shopping trip today.  Don't miss out!

Thanks, hip2save!

Cool Aveeno deal at Walgreens!

Walgreens has Aveeno products for 25% off this week.  Not a great sale, but here's a way to turn it into one!  When you purchase 3 Aveeno products, you receive a Travel Essentials bag for free ($10 value!).  Here's what to do:

Buy 3 Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotions 2.5 oz for $2.99 (less 25%; prices vary - they were $2.69 with the discount at my store)
Use (3) $1/1 coupons from HERE (ensure your pop up blocker is OFF; I printed 2 coupons by using two different addresses.  I didn't try and print 2 off of one registration but it may be possible; work with it and see what you can do!)  You'll need 2 printers for this.
Final price: approx. $5.07 for 3 lotions AND the travel kit
AND the travel kit has a $2/1 coupon inside!!

I'm getting paid $3.93 for buying new pens!

Walgreens has an AWESOME deal going on!  They have 2 packs of these fun Pilot Frixion Gel Pens on sale for $1.19 (they erase using friction!).  Well, in the April coupon booklet (located at the front of the store, same rack as the ads) there is a $1 off coupon, making them...$.19 for 2!!

It gets better!  There is a mail in rebate on the back of the packages for $4.50 when you buy 3!  So buy 3 packs for $.57 and mail in for the rebate.  $3.93 moneymaker!!  Score!  One rebate per household.

Free Socks from No Nonsense!

Most people who know me will think this is ironic of me to post this since I *loathe* wearing socks, BUT...they're free!  And I do occasionally wear them when it's cold in the house!

Go HERE and become a fan of No Nonsense on Facebook.  Everyday at 9pm PST, they will give away a pair to the first 100 people that register with them.  Once you are on their FB page, click on the lower left quarter of the page to take you to the registration.  I was able to score a pair!  Set an alarm for yourself to be on the computer tomorrow at 9pm PST to snag some for yourself!!  Don't worry, they are running this for the next 50 days (!!), but only one per household.

Thanks, ChaChing on a Shoestring!

My Little Pony extravaganza: A Toys R Us Tale!

Well, as I posted a couple of days ago, TRU had My Little Pony all BOGO free!  I was excited to go, but honestly, I had quite the anxiety after reading some of the experiences people were having on Hip2Save and The Frugal Find.  But I went, and even as I approached the registers I was worried.  However, all my fears were for nothing!  I was able to get 4 single ponies for FREE ($1.07 for tax) and the 2 playsets (ferris wheel for my daughter for Christmas and the car for a birthday coming up!) for $8.64 after tax!!  Here's what happened:

I went to Pinole TRU instead of Pleasant Hill since there had been some debate on whether or not the BOGO coupon would work there.  I had a new cashier and she had the manager helping her out. I had the single ponies rung up on one transaction (because if you get two playsets and two ponies, the two ponies will come up free as the bogo always takes off the lowest items). The manager (named Jim) told the gal to punch in the amount for the ponies ($5.49) then he did that pause that happens a lot when you use the bogo coupons. I chimed in and said, “they’re basically all free cause the coupon pays…” then he nods his head! He nodded his head cause he KNEW about the deal!!! He KNEW how a bogo sale/bogo coupon deal works!!!! I was elated!! I’m writing an email to corporate when I get home to express my LOVE for Jim and my cashier!!

So I was trying to think about what the best thing is to say when you have the BOGO coupon/store sale scenario.  A LOT of people can't wrap their brain around it (It took me awhile too, so how am I supposed to convince a cashier in 30 seconds that what I'm doing is fine?!).  But my wording if you are faced with a cashier who doesn't understand why both are free is:

The store is giving me one for free as part of the sale, and the coupon, which is like cash to the store, is paying for my second one.  The store is just being paid by the manufacturer, not me.

Have you done any BOGO coupon/store sale deals?  Did you get a good cashier?  Did you have to call the manager over?  Tell me your stories!

This should make for a free or almost free treat!  Go HERE or HERE for a $1/1 7-Up product!  The 2 liter bottles are frequently $.99 and the 20 oz are around there to if you're in a grab and go mood!

Thanks, Hip2Save!

Thanks, Hip2Save!

My favorite kind of shopping at the mall...is free shopping!

I love all the coupons for Bath and Body Works right now.  I did two transactions and got the following:

#1
One free Signature Collection travel item - no purchase necessary!
(This was in a mailer that I got, along with a 20% off coupon--keep an eye out for it!)

#2
One free Signature Collection travel item with ANY purchase - HERE is the coupon.  It's good until April 18th so be sure to keep bringing this one with you when you go to the mall!  While you are printing, I recommend taking THIS ONE with you too.  You have to spend $10 but if you're going to anyway, may as well get something free too!!

Then I strolled over to Victoria's Secret with my mailer coupon to get my free panty (ooh la la!).  If you haven't already, I'd definitely recommend signing up for their mailing list.  I don't know when I did so, but the coupons keep following me wherever I move to!  They do ask you for your phone number when you buy stuff, so perhaps they get your address from that.  In any case, I'd go in and ask if you can be put on their mailing list.  I hardly ever buy undies anymore thanks to all the coupons they send me.

AND...sometimes the free panty coupon has a $10 off any bra purchase, but sometimes (like this one!), it's just a $10 off any purchase.  What's that mean...?  I got the body lotion (regularly $9.50) for free too! They don't tell you about this if you just grab the panty; I know cause I just noticed this a couple of times ago and realized I could be getting something for free.  So always pay attention to amount on coupons...whether it be the size or dollar amount, it's always important to get the most out of that coupon!!

Toys R Us Deal of the Day tomorrow! Hopefully FREE My Little Ponies!

Thanks to The Frugal Find for this deal!

Tomorrow, TRU's Deal of the Day is BOGO Free on ALL My Little Pony playsets! I will definitely be going because I know a least one little girl's birthday that is coming up and this will be great! Depending on what TRU you go to, you may also be able to score some FREE ponies!! I know that the Pleasant Hill, CA store seems to be pretty relaxed with their coupon taking but whenever you are getting free things, there always seems to be an issue. I'll try to go early and let you guys know if I get it. Coupons you will need are from the 3/21 SS. There was a Play Saver insert for several different toys. Don't forget you can use 2 coupons, even if one is free! You are just stacking your coupon on the store's sale!

Here's what I plan on using:
(2) $5/1 So Soft Newborns, Family Convertible, or Ferris Wheel
(2) BOGO Free Pony Friends Single Assortment (4 for free - one way to explain it is the store sale is getting you one free, and the coupon is paying for the other one, making it free)

They are also having a great deal on Hasbro games, a lot of which have printable coupons HERE and in that 3/21 SS insert. Check out all of the scenarios HERE courtesy of Hip2Save!

This Week's Rite Aid trip!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. I'm *finally* getting better after being sick for 2 weeks (well, still have a cough and only half a voice, but we're getting there!).

I ventured out to Rite Aid and scored some awesome deals! These are worth the trip out there!

2 Lysol No Touch Soap Dispensers - 50% off ($7.49 ea)
Use (2) $5/1 from 3/28 SS
AND use (2) $1/1 Video Values HERE (you will have to have 2 e-mail accounts to get 2 coupons as you can only print one per log in)
Final Price: $1.49 ea!

Clearasil products - BOGO Free (My two products were $5.99 and $5.29)
Use $1.50/1 from 3/14 SS (I only had 1 but if you have 2, use 2)
AND Use $1/1 peelie from the pore pads (I used this instead of my second $1.50/1)
Final Price: $3.49 for both!

THEN...use a $5/$20 coupon HERE by earning 20 Video Value points

Total price before tax: $1.47!! Awesome!

If you don't want to do the $5/$20 VV coupon, you could just get the 2 soap dispensers, get a super cheap item, and use THIS $3/$15 coupon, making the soap dispensers free! (Since the soap dispensers are only $14.98, you only need a really cheap item to get that $3 off; look for a cheap easter candy or a pencil or something)
